THE FRANK E BOOMA POST 6

 NEWSLETTER

Founded 1919

April 2008

 Commander -- Elliott Antequera

COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

It is with great appreciation that I thank those of you who give so selflessly of yourselves for our Veterans and Legion Family.  Without the volunteers, the American Legion especially our Post could even exist, let alone lay claim as a service organization.  Your work is so important, your presence at functions such as Post Dinners, Parades, Children’s Parties, Hospital Visits and Funeral show that somebody cares.  You bring comfort not only to the Veterans but to the members of their family.  Thank you for all of your efforts and expressions of concern.  Thank you for making the total effort of our organization such more effective.  With such service in mind, we will continue being the greatest Veterans Organization in America.  Compassion is Volunteering.

 Elliott Antequera, Post Commander

ADJUTANT’S MESSAGE

The Post News Letter is a vehicle which allows the Post members the opportunity to let other members know, what functions for the Post or community they are working, and ask for help if needed. To give thanks and praise to other members for what they have done for the Post and community. The newsletter should be the forum to announce all upcoming Post meetings, Post installation of all Post officers, birthdays, weddings and death; Also to alert members when important people such as State, National American Legion, Auxiliary and Squadron officers will be visiting the Post so a proper reception can be prepared for the guest. The Post Newsletter should not be used as personal vehicle to promote political ambitions, to chastise and or down grade Post members to do so hurts the Post in the eyes other Post members and the general public. Nothing can be gain from this type of action. As Post Adjutant and editor the Post Newsletter I will from this day forward read all items to be printed in the Post newsletter, any items I feel that are not up to the Standard of this Post will not be printed and return to the author of the article.

The nominations for Post Officers are as follows:

JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

I must apologize to George McCall for the entry I made to the last newsletter, he did not see what I submitted and I am sorry for that. I did not know that some people would take exception to that.  We had the Children's Easter party and I want to thank everyone that worked it and made it a success.  I am at the end of my term as Junior Vice Commander and I have had a good time serving you in this capacity.   We do not have a candidate for Junior Vice for the coming year.  If we do not fill that position, I will continue to do the job until we have someone to take the job over.  I hope that we have a good turnout for the elections on April 17, 2008 and you elect a good slate of officers for the coming year.  This year we have a change in the format for elections, we now have the ability to write in anyone for the offices and I would recommend Artie Vancour for the position of Junior Vice Commander for the coming year. I hope that this does not offend people but he is a good person for the job and he has done it in the past and done it well. Please consider him for this position.  I ask that you all support any officers that you do elect and let them do a good job in the coming year.  Thank you,

Richard “Brooksie” Brooks, Jr Vice Commander
