THE FRANK E BOOMA POST 6 NEWSLETTER Founded 1919 AUGUST 2006 Commander -- Elliott Antequera COMMANDER’S MESSAGE Congratulations to Richard Brooks our newly elected Junior Vice Commander, Bill Decker our Post Historian and Jim Minot, Audit Committee member. Welcome. Our Children’ Outing was a success. I wish to thank all the volunteers, Sons of the American Legion and a special thanks to Grant Bergeron for organizing and leading the group, making that day special for our children and family. Our Post Color Guard is no preparing for competition at our National Convention. They were National Champs in 2004 and stand a good chance of doing it again. As you all are aware there is a cost factor associated with this event. We invite you all to come out and visit our Fish Fry on Friday, August 3, 2007 and help us fray this cost and of course enjoy a good meal. Our Adult Outing is schedule for September 1, 2007 at Stratham Hill Park. Arrangements are still in the making. For more information, contact Junior Vice Commander Richard Brooks at 1-603-436-7575. Lastly, our Post meetings are scheduled for the first and third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. Attendance has been low, motions are made, subjects discussed and voted up with minimal attendance. This is not a good practice. Get involved and know first hand what is happening, rather than speculate and complain after the fact. This club belongs to its membership. “Get Involved!” Yours in friendship and service, Elliott Antequera, Post Commander Reminder – If you are interested in being on the Grille Committee (5 members needed), please contact me 1-207-450-5868 before Thursday, August 16, 2007. JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER’S MESSAGE We are in the planning stages for the Adult outing this year. The menu is still undecided due to the cost of the event and the lack of a Vice Commander until last week. We will be deciding at our next Post meeting the final decision on having the event. At the last meeting it was decided that the tickets will be sold to be able to avoid any cost to the Post with no refund. The cost of the ticket will be dependent on the menu and the event will not be held if there is insufficient numbers of tickets sold or lack of volunteers to assist with this. If you have any input on this issue, please attend our next executive board meeting at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday August 2, 2007. Richard “Brooksie” Brooks, Junior Vice Commander PEASE AIR SHOW On August 18 and 19 there will be an air show at Pease International Tradeport. The Post 6 family is presently planning to have a food booth at this event. If you are interested in helping by working the booth, please sign up in the grille or contact “Brooksie”. The hours of the air show are from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Vendors and volunteers start at 7:00 A.M. If you are attending the air show, please look for our booth and support our endeavor and to say hi to the people working. Thank you, Richard “Brooksie” Brooks, Food Committee Chairman ADJUTANT’S MESSAGE Congratulations to the newly elected officers of the Department of New Hampshire. The list of officers are as follows: Commander – Charles Lewis; Vice Commanders – Bill Roy, George McCall, Charles Cook and Robert “Gunny” Brewster; NEC – John “Jack” Neylon; Alternate NEC – Roland Patnode; Historian – Deb Demers; Auditor – Daniel Webster; and Judge Advocate – Robert Bournival. George McCall, Post Adjutant BYLAWS CHANGE On Thursday August 16, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. we will be having a vote on the change to the Bylaws of the Post. We will be voting to change the hours of the Post meeting from 7:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. This was done previously but due to a ruling by the Judge Advocate after much research, it was found to have been done improperly so it has to be revisited to make it a legal change. Please come out and vote for this change so that we may correct this error. The Post Color Guard will be holding its monthly Fish Fry on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 4 - 7 p.m. Dan Yoder, Sergeant-At-Arms SURF & TURF SCHEDULE
