THE FRANK E BOOMA POST 6 NEWSLETTER Founded 1919 February 2007 Commander -- Eugene Bragg COMMANDER’S MESSAGE The Frank E Booma Post and it’s members should be proud of what it has accomplished in helping to sustain the values which are so important to us: Americanism, Service to God, Country and the Youth of our community and our nation. While the men and women currently serving in the military are making a great sacrifice for our country overseas, we should never forget that our Post has been a valuable contributor to the betterment of the local community in its support of many programs to enhance the lives of us all. Frank E. Booma Post #6 stands committed to the efforts of those serving our country in uniform in all we do here on the Seacoast. Just as a small reminder, I have listed below just some of our contributions to give you an idea of what we do on a continuing basis and why we need YOU to help keep these worthwhile programs ongoing: Auxiliary, Son's, Scholarships, School Awards, Flag Education, Color Guard, Boys & Girls State, Baseball, Cemetery Maintenance, Children’ Parties, Thanksgiving Dinner, Parades, Veteran Home/VA Hospital Visitations, Public Dinners, Americanism and other Services to the Community through other Patriotic endeavors. For God & Country, Eugene (Gene) Bragg, Post Commander ADJUTANT’S MESSAGE As most of you Post members know, there has been a membership dues increase from $20.00 to $25.00. So when you send in your payment for your 2007 membership card, make sure that you send the correct amount. Another reminder that the State of New Hampshire id giving bonuses to all veterans and active duty personnel who have been awarded the “Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medals” for service after 11 September 2001. AUXILIARY MEMBERSHIP Ladies - Once again the Auxiliary will not be responsible for any dues left behind the bar. Also anyone collecting dues must make sure you check the last card they have. It should be showing 2006 on it Shirley Calvert, Unit Membership Chairman Frank E. Booma American Legion Auxiliary Unit #6 is holding a Raffle. Proceeds are to benefit the Granite Girls State Program. Tickets go on sale February 1, 2007. Price is 1 ticket for $1.00, 6 tickets for $5.00 or 15 tickets for $10.00. Prizes are: A handmade Patriotic Quilt, a strand of Cultured Pearls from G. M. Pollack worth $199.95, dinner for 2 at the Sheraton Harborside in Portsmouth, 2 free entrees at the Rusty Hammer, there are 3 $25.00 gift certificates for the Dinnerhorn, Abercrombie & Finch and State Street Saloon, there are 2 $20.00 gift certificates for Taipei & Tokyo and a 3X5 photo frame from Hovey's Photo Inc. Prizes to be drawn on March 8th at the monthly meeting of Unit #6.
