COMMANDER’S MESSAGE
Here we are
again, the month of February and time for first nominations of our
Post officers. I strongly urge our members to participate not only
in the nominations but as candidates. One of the most satisfying
things about participating is knowing that you can make a
difference, your knowledge and expertise in dozens of varied fields
can be useful to us as members of this great organization. Commit
yourself to making a difference with fresh ideas; get vitally
involved with our organization. Take the challenge, I guarantee you
will grow as a person and get great satisfaction in helping and
representing our veterans in our community. First nominations will
take place Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 6 p.m. in the Post Hall at
our regularly scheduled meeting. If you are interested and cannot
attend, please submit a letter of intent to our current Post
Adjutant. Also as a reminder our new Constitution and By Laws
proposed January 3, 2008 and adopted January 17, 2008 are available
to each and every member upon request. I recommend that all members
become familiar with these rules. Another reminder goes to all our
elected delegates – Post, Auxiliary and S.A.L. - you have an
obligation to attend all post meetings, district meetings,
Department Fall, Winter and Spring Conferences and Department
Convention or lodging which is budgeted by the Post will be denied.
Please check our calendar for upcoming events.
Elliott Antequera, Post Commander
ADJUTANT’S
MESSAGE
Again I want to
remind all Post members that it is important that I have
your correct mailing address, in order for you to get your
newsletter. In the past some members have moved and this one reason
why some members do not get their newsletter. If a family member who
belongs to the Post is moved into a nursing home please let the Post
know and if a Post member is deceased please notify the Post so that
all correspondence to that member can be cancelled. There also has
been some talk about not receiving the newsletter on time. It was
printed in a past newsletter that all messages to be printed in the
newsletter have to be given to Karyl Horn or the Adjutant by the
20th of the month, in the past this has not been followed. The
mailing of the newsletter has been held up due to topics for the
newsletter were coming in late and we tried to wait for them, this
will no longer be the case in order to get the newsletter out on
time. So please have your message in by the 20th, or else it will
not be printed.

JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER’S MESSAGE
As everyone knows by now, the State
of New Hampshire set a record for the voter turnout during the
primary. I hope most of our members exercised their right to vote in
the primary. The American Legion is a strong advocate for getting
people out to vote in the primary, local, state and national
elections. I thank everyone that exercised this important right.
National will be sending out information to members on the Get out
the Vote shortly and we will be working on this as soon as it is
received. The Post will be having a St. Valentine's Day Dinner on
Thursday February 14, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The dinner
will consist of Rib Eye Steak, Vegetables, Roll and Dessert. The
ladies’ dinners will be free and cooked and served by the men of the
Legion and S.A.L. For any Legion or S.A.L. member that wish to dine
that evening the cost will be $10.00 per plate. I will have a sign
up sheet in the Grille for people that will be having a meal so that
we have accurate count of anyone dining that evening. The cut off
date for signing up will be February 7, 2008. I hope to see a good
turn out for this event. At the January 17, 2008 Post meeting we
approved the new Constitution and By Laws. I thank everyone that
came out for that. This is the first time it has been done in
almost 20 years. This enables us to operate much better. I thank
Frank Desper and Marianne Perreault. Nominations and elections for
officers are coming up. Please be present to vote this year. Your
membership has to be paid prior to February 1, 2008 to be able to
vote. Thank you,
