It is us as an organization that represents then not only in congress, state, and local level, but through our programs we serve the veterans and their families directly here at home. While the heart and soul of the American Legion rest in its millions of members, the nerve center of the organization rest on the individual member by lending their time and talent to its principles and programs. We at Post 6 have had a good year and with your commitment we can make 2008 a great year.  Come Join Us!

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Winter is upon us. I hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have a Happy New Year to come.  I would like to thank everyone who worked to make the Thanksgiving Dinner a
success. The meal was fantastic!!! I would also like to thank everyone who made desserts!!!! There were more desserts than could be used on Thanksgiving Day so the remaining were put out for patrons of the Grille to enjoy over the next several days.  Many thanks go out to Ella Studrance, Shirley Williams, Janice Brown and Karyl Horn for your joint effort in making the Auxiliary Cherry Tree Fund Raiser a success. A BIG Thank You to ALL that donated and to those that went to companies for donations of the prizes. These donations made it possible for the Auxiliary to raise $1009.00 to be used for the Auxiliary Projects.  The Children's Christmas Party was delayed due to Mother Nature and Old Man
Winter duking it out. I need to extend a Big, Big "Thank you" to Russ and Janice Brown. Due to the Corporate Donations not coming through in the amount hoped for Janice and Russ used their own money to make the Children's Christmas Party happen. Between the Sons of the American Legion, Legion and the Auxiliary Janice and Russ have been reimbursed. I thank the organizations for coming through to give the Children a Merry Christmas. Thank you Santa for coming by the Legion as I know this time of year is busy for you.  The December Auxiliary meeting was cancelled due to another battle between Mother Nature and Old Man Winter. The next meeting will be on January 10, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.  The next Auxiliary Dinner will be January 18, 2007. Look for notices in the Grille and in the paper for the menu.  Nominations of Auxiliary Officers for the 2008-2009 year will be held at the March 13, 2008 meeting. If you are interested in running for an Office please attend the meeting or have your letter of intent into the President before the night of the meeting. It has been strongly suggested by many that the Auxiliary do another Fund Raiser of the same type as the Cherry Tree around Easter. Easter is only a short time away. So if you would be willing to ask companies that you work for or places that you frequent to donate a gift certificate the Auxiliary could utilize these as prizes. The Auxiliary has a Non- Profit Tax ID # that can be given so that these companies can write off their donation. We have some plastic Easter Eggs that could be used as holders of the slips of paper that would have numbers on them to correlate with the prizes but would need many more Easter Eggs. Anyone willing to make donations of the Easter Eggs or gift certificates please contact me and we will see what we could do to make this happen.

 Sheila Brooks, Unit President

 AUXILIARY MEMBERSHIP

Ladies – If you have not paid your 2008, please do so. Your name will be removed from the mailing list and you will not receive a bulletin in February.  Also, if you have a change of address, please notify me.

I would like to THANK everyone who sent cards and well-wishes while I was hospitalized and under the weather.

 Shirley Calvert, Unit Membership Chairman

 CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Happy New Year!!!! A thank you to those who helped wrap Christmas Presents, and helped me with the Children’s Christmas Party. Everything went very well, considering it was my first year.  Santa made an appearance and was liked by most; some of the little ones wanted nothing to do with him. But a special thank you to Santa for taking time from his busy schedule to come and see us.

Janice Brown, Unit Children and Youth Chairman

 GRILLE STEWARD’S MESSAGE
