Commander’s Message
First I would like
to congratulate the Post and Auxiliary Color Guards for taking first place
in the State again this year. I
am very proud to be Commander of this Post with such fine Color Guards and
members. I want to ask everyone to be aware that there is going to be
buses going to Boston for the BRAC hearings on July 6, 2005.
I will have posters up for this.
So if you are interested in supporting the Portsmouth Naval
Shipyard, please plan on going that day.
We postponed our Flag Day ceremonies due to the weather and will
reschedule this in the near future. It
will probably be on a Saturday. I
want remind everyone that the American Legion baseball season has started
and we won our first game in District on June 21, 2005.
There is a schedule in the Post and on our webpage.
Please attempt to attend some games.
It is very good baseball and the players love seeing the support of
the Booma family. Remember
that the Post continues to have meetings during the summer, so we look
forward to seeing you at one of them or more.
We need your input to serve you properly.
Keep an eye peeled for more information on the Adult Outing being
held on Saturday, September 10, 2005.
The Children’s Outing is Saturday, July 16, 2005 at the New
Castle Commons. Come join us
for a fund day.

POST BUDGET MEETING, FRIDAY,
JULY 8, 2005 AT 6 P.M.
Dear Mr.
Brooks,
I just want to thank you and all
the members of Booma for what the American Legion has done for me all
through the years. I played
for Legion 4 years in Little League and played American Legion Baseball
for 4 years. It gave me the opportunity to improve myself as a baseball
player and a person. I have
attended Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill and played on their
baseball team. My coach has
insisted I play in the North Shore wooden bat league.
There are a lot of college players and he wants me to face college
pitching and hitters. I
really wanted to play my last year of Legion Baseball for Post 6.
I have to do what my coach says and I remember a few years ago the
Legion Athletic Committee voted that you could not double roster.
I would have really liked to play both but couldn’t attend all
the practices. Coach Pratt
has done a good job turning the baseball team around over the last few
years and I know it wouldn’t be acceptable to him to give anything less
than 100% commitment and I understand that. That’s what makes the team as good as it is.
So I want to thank all the Legionnaires that made it possible for
me to play the level of baseball that I did.
You were great sponsors and I am very proud to say that I played
for Booma Post 6.
Thank you
for your time,
Chris Anderson

member of Post 11, Jaffrey. The other elected officers are, Ben Talford,
member of Post 28, Suncook was reelected National Executive Committeeman,
and John Neylon member of Post 41 Whitefield was reelected Alternate
National Executive Committeeman. Those elected as Department vice
Commanders were Richard Irving of Post 08, Dover, Dave Victor of Post 68,
Littleton, Wayne Beauregard of Post 3, Nashua, and Francis “Sharkey”
Madden of Post 02, Manchester. John Zachodny of Post 28 Suncook was
reelected as Department Adjutant, Donald Morgan of Post 18 Wolfeboro was
elected Department Historian, Ken Fletcher of Post 102 Gilmanton was
elected Department Auditor, and Harry Poper of Post 48 was reelected
Department Judge Advocate. There were nineteen members elected as
Delegates to National Convention. Three members from Post 06 were elected
they are George Mc Call Post Adjutant, Carl Walton and Mariann Perreault Post Finance
Officer. After the National
Convention I will call a meeting of all Post delegates. I will get with
the chairman of the Auxiliary, and Squadron, and set a date that will be
acceptable to all delegates. To
all Post members, the time has come when you as members should start
thinking about what you can do to keep your Post in good order. There is
an old saying that says, “A Union Is Only As Good As Its Membership.”
In order for your Post to survive it needs participation from its members.
The Post needs members to attend monthly meetings, and give their input,
on issue that might be of important to the membership. What I am asking is
that you take time out of your schedule, and attend your Post meeting,
once a month, for about one hour, that add up to twelve hours per year.
Exceptions would be if
you have to work, meeting nights, live in another state, have personal
concerns that conflict with coming to meetings, or are disabled and cannot
attend meetings. If you do not fall into one of the fore-mention
situations, I ask you again please come the meetings, and-give your input.
Sincerely,
George McCall – Adjutant

President’s Message
Ladies – I would
like to thank everyone who voted for me.
I will do my best to see that the Unit has a successful year
promoting it programs. The Unit managed to bring home from the Department Convention
several awards for best reporting - Americanism and Public Relations.
The Unit Color Guard was awarded the Color Guard Community Service
award. This year’s
Department President Kathy Fernald’s special project is the “Songs of
Love”. A non-profit
organization dedicated in “The Medicine of Music” creates personalized
songs for chronically and terminally ill children and young adults.
These one-of-a-kind compositions are a wonderful source of joy and
inspiration to the special people who receive them. For more info, you can
go to www.songsoflove.com.
Congratulations to Karyl Horn elected Auxiliary Department First
Vice President. There will be
a special meeting on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 7 p.m. to nominate and
elect a Second Vice President. If
you are interested in this position, please attend or send a letter of
intent. Our next Unit meeting
will be Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 7 p.m.
Please come and see what the Unit is all about.
“All for one and one for all. Together we stand, divided we
fall.” Have a safe
and fun summer.
