THE FRANK E BOOMA POST 6 NEWSLETTER Founded 1919 JULY 2008 Commander -- Frank Desper COMMANDER’S MESSAGE I am proud to announce that George McCall was elected as the new Department Commander for 2008 - 2009. He is the 5th member of this Post to hold this prestigious office. We will be honoring Flag Day on Monday July 14, 2008 at 6:30 pm. The ceremony will take place in the back lot. The celebration of our Post has been upgraded to a rededication. All members of the Post are cordially invited; the scheduled date is August 9, 2008 at 12:00 pm. Separate invitations are currently being sent out to Department Officers, District Officers and Posts. The families of Frank E. Booma are very excited about the occasion. The Mayor of Portsmouth will be present along with Governor Lynch whom both will present proclamations to our Post. The adult outing committee is forming up and the plans are coming together. To keep it short, it will be held here at the Post and you don't want to miss this year's! I'll get back to you with a date and time. The 4th of July is around the corner, if you don't have a Flag of our country to display at your residence, stop by the Post and pick one up. Karyl Horn our web master has set up the Post website so I can receive your mail, go to feboomapost6.org, and click on Post then Commander to link onto my E-mail. Browse the entire site to see the hard work Karyl has done to develop it. It is my sad duty to report that two Post Members have fallen from our ranks. Leo Langelier (21 year Member), Thomas “Willie” Williamson and Richard L. Weyant (PUFL) passed away last month they will be missed and our charter is draped. May they rest in peace, amen. All engines are ahead full. Frank Desper, Post 6 Commander SURF & TURF SCHEDULE July 5th – Post July 12th – S.A.L. July 19th – Unit July 26th – Post ADJUTANT’S MESSAGE The Department Convention is over and the Post Adjutant has the 2009 membership cards, so all those who wish to become an early bird, now is the time to stop by and get your membership card. There are still a few Post members who received their 2008 membership cards and have not remitted their membership dues. I feel the reason for this is, you have forgotten, so please send in your payment. I would like to have it before The National Convention, the Post only needs, 48 more members for 100%. In the past year there has been a server lack of Post members at the Post meeting. The Post has eleven membership meetings and twelve Executive Board Meetings, per year. For the survival of the Post the membership has to make an effort to participate in the running of the Post and attend the membership meetings and give their ideas and opinions, concerning the Post. This Post can only be as good as it membership. If you as a member of The Frank E. Booma, Post 6, and Do Not Participate, Or Attend Meetings Then You, DO NOT HAVE A VOICE.
