COMMANDER’S
MESSAGE
The month of
November is now upon us and with it brings the start of the holiday
season. Also a time that is dedicated to commemorating the services
of veterans of all wars. Those proud men and women who defended and
still are defending freedom and preserving our American heritage,
let us honor those who have given so much for those freedoms we
enjoy today and those which are being protected for tomorrow so that
our children and - our children's children may live in a nation
where liberty endures. Honor those who offered life and service for
god and country. Thank a Veteran! Thanksgiving Day dinner is to be
held November 22, 2007 in our Post dining room. All members and
their guest are invited to attend; our Post home is also open to the
public at no cost so that no one in need goes without a meal that
day. Of course this happens only because our volunteers give of
their time to support this event. Volunteers are welcome and
needed not only on that day but as you know before for preparation.
Please find it in your hearts to help us make this day a blessed
one. Reminder, we will be nominating and electing delegates at our
November meeting. If you are interested, please be at this meeting
or have a letter of intent to George McCall or myself. In
friendship and in service,
Elliott
Antequera, Post Commander
OPEN
LETTER
Since my recent
decision to stop some expenditure by the post, a great deal of
misinformation has found its way to grill gossip. In the interest of
moving forward, it is important to ask those responsible to stop
undermining the confidence and good work of our officers of the
Legion, Sal, and auxiliary and most importantly the members that
give of their time to assure that our programs continue. I have
tremendous faith and confidence in the men and women of this post at
a time when we need them the most. It is not fair to have a few
members disseminating criticism of the post and its members for not
totally financing programs, and ignoring the efforts of others that
are willing to step forward and help. My attitude is that I am less
concerned about what you are saying and more concerned with what is
in your heart. The opportunity to serve is offered to all members.
You may be surprised at how much the post can accomplish. Devote
your energy and resources to our programs. Remember, our
organization was founded with a spirit of fellowship, enthusiasm and
mutual respect among concerned friends. It was built on the
understanding that together, we can make a difference.
Elliott
Antequera, Post Commander

PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE
Fall is here and
with that comes cooler weather. If you have any clothing that you
would like to donate, Chris Harris will see that they are dispersed.
Auxiliary member, that we have been informed of, on sick call
include Melinda Dobe, Doris Burt, Cindy Lamagdelaine, Gayna Ballard,
Donna Smith and Lois Smith. Please send them cards. I am sure they
would love to see that they are not forgotten. Please contact your
membership chairman, Shirley Calvert if you need their addresses. If
any members are able to make monetary donations to the Christmas
events or donations of items that are new or lightly used to the
Cherry Tree, the Auxiliary would be greatly appreciative. The
numbers of members that attend the Unit meeting is small and will
become even smaller with the Unit's snowbirds traveling to their
winter homes. I thank you for the confidence that you are showing in
your elected officers by not showing up, but if we do not have a
quorum in attendance, then your Officers and attending members will
not be able to legally conduct business and the Unit will not be
able to accomplish anything for the Community, State and Nation.
Please attend the meetings as they would only be taking up less than
2 hours of your time. Any Auxiliary member that pays their 2008 due
by November 15, 2007 will be put into the drawing of a Clock that
has an Eagle on the face. This clock was donated to the Unit by an
anonymous person. Yours in gratitude,
Sheila Brooks,
Unit President

Janice Brown,
Children and Youth Chairman
DONATIONS
NEEDED!
We
are looking for non-perishable dry or canned goods for our annual
Thanksgiving Basket Raffle which will be drawn on Saturday, November
17, 2007. Proceeds will go to the Children’s Christmas Party
because we are not getting financial help from the Post this year.
Thank you for the Unit 6 Auxiliary.

HAPPY
THANKSGIVING! |
